Getting to Saaremaa

By car and ferry

Please drive to port of Virtsu in West-Estonia.
Tallinn – Port of Virtsu 135km, driving time approx 1,45 hours
Riga – Port of Virtsu 256km, driving time approx 3,5 hours
In summer period ferries are departing after every 35 minutes and trip to Kuivastu port takes ca 25 minutes. From Kuivastu port, it’s 74 km to Kuressaare (ca 50 min.). Please find a timetable and book Your ferry ticket online on TS Laevad homepage www.praamid.ee.

By Yacht

Saaremaa is very popular with visiting yachties. The best harbour facilities are at the Nasva Yacht Club (Nasva Jahtklubi; tel: +372 75 140, fax: +372 55 257), 9km (5mi) west of Kuressaare. But Kuressaare Yacht Harbour is an international port for small ships. The harbour has received the Blue Flag for environmental friendliness.

By Air

You can fly to Kuressaare, Saaremaa from Tallinn by NyxAir. The trip takes ca 30 minutes. Please find flight schedules and book a ticket here.

By Bus

The bus service operates daily from Tallinn, Tartu and Pärnu to Kuressaare, the total journey time being approximately four hours from Tallinn to Kuressaare. At least nine direct buses daily travel each way between Tallinn and Kuressaare. Please find timetables and book a ticket from www.tpilet.ee.
